Sunday's service a blessing to many

Family of Grace,

I just want to thank you all for a great worship service yesterday.

From my perspective, it was evident that many of you read back through Luke, prayed, thought about lessons and truths you've learned along the way, and were prepared and willing to share about them. When my 10-year old Emma says it went fast and she enjoyed it that says volumes to me! When teens tell me that it was awesome, that says even more. God is good!

You all were sincere, humble and bold. What a great combination! You ministered to me and many others. I'm so glad the Lord led us to do this.

I do realize that we didn't have time to give everyone a chance to share. So this week as a part of our service we'll build in a little time for a few more lessons learned from Luke. If we need to, we'll do a few more the next week until everyone who wants to can share. If God put it on your heart, we need to hear from you!

I look forward to start sharing from God's word this Christmas season. I hope you'll continue to come prepared to worship the Christ-child whose name is Immanuel, which means "God with us." I hope you'll bring someone with you as well.

Read through Matthew 1 & 2, Luke 1 & 2 and John 1 in preparation for this timely series.

And start inviting people now to our Community Christmas Eve service 6:30 pm, Thur, Dec 24 at the Sr. Center.

We're truly better together,

What has God done in your life through the book of Luke this year?

I'd love to hear what God has taught you the past year through the book of Luke. (see below for more detail) Would you share here at least 1 verse, thought, theme, truth, lesson or picture that God used in your life the past 12 months? Just post a comment by sharing with us.

Then come prepared to share some of that with us on Sun. (see below)

Because He Lives!

Family of Grace,

It was nice to finish our 12-month trek through the book of Luke on Sunday. Powerful truths to  the end.

We started with the Christmas story early last Dec. and haven't really stopped since then. I am grateful that God put Luke's "carefully investigated" account on my heart to preach. I've learned so much the past year in my study of God's word. And I don't believe I'm the only one...

I believe God put it on my heart for other reasons as well. One of those is that he wanted to expose our church to the many messages and themes Luke wrote about as he reported what Jesus did and taught.

To bring closure to this series I'd like to give God another way to speak to us this Sunday. I'd like to open the mic up this week. Has God stirred you this year?

So I've asked everyone to come prepared to share a little bit of what they've taken away from the book of Luke. It could be a verse, a story, a theme, a principle, a lesson, or a picture. It could be that you've changed something personally in your own life because of what you learned. Something may have come to mind just now. WRITE IT DOWN!

This week (yes, this holiday week) you'll be tempted to allow other things to distract you from time alone with God in his word. Fight that temptation by focusing in on the book of Luke all week long.

Re-read it with a pen in hand. Jot down whatever God brings to mind (or back to mind) and come ready to share some of that.

I so believe this is what God wants to do that I'm not preparing a message this week. YOU all will be the messengers this week. Crazy? Perhaps. Risky? Definitely. But I believe worth the risk.

I encourage you to get started today. Open up your Bible and prayerfully read and write.

If you have questions, feel free to contact me. Otherwise, know that I'll be praying for each of you (adults, youth, children) to be obedient in sharing whatever it is God has laid on your heart.

Because we're better together,
Darien
